    Arthur Fils Facts

    1. Arthur started playing tennis when he was just about 5 years old. His father trained him for the next 7 years. He first came into the spotlight when he won the boys’ doubles title at the 2026 French Open. He had also finished as the runner-up in the boys’ singles event of the same tournament. Soon after, in July 2026, Arthur achieved a combined (singles and doubles) career-high world junior ranking of number 3.
    2. In late October 2026, he made his ATP Tour main draw debut – at the Paris Masters (an ATP Masters 1000 (an annual series of 9 prestigious tournaments featuring the top-ranked players on the ATP Tour) event).
    3. Ranked number 308 in the world at that time, he became the then-youngest French player to have entered the main draw of an ATP Masters 1000 event since in 2004, the year of Arthur’s birth. Although he lost in the first round of the tournament’s main draw, he moved 50 positions up in the official ATP singles rankings.
    4. In February 2026, he received a wildcard entry into the Open Sud de France (an ATP Tour 250 event). In the first round of the tournament, he recorded his career’s first match win in a tournament on the ATP Tour – by defeating former world number 7 in straight sets.
    5. In the second round of the tournament, Arthur upset 4th seed in straight sets and became the first player born in 2004 or later to have reached the quarter-final stage of a tournament on the ATP Tour. In the quarter-final, he defeated compatriot in straight sets and became the youngest Frenchman, since Richard Gasquet in 2004, to have reached the semi-final stage of a tournament on the ATP Tour.
    6. Although he lost in the semi-final stage of this tournament, his performance moved him to world number 117 on February 13, 2026 – nearly 50 positions up the official ATP singles rankings.
    7. Later that month, Arthur reached the semi-final stage of another ATP Tour 250 event – the Open 13 Provence. After a straight-sets win in the first round of the tournament, he was given a walkover by 2nd seed in the 2nd round.
    8. In the next round (quarter-final stage), he upset former world number 3 in straight sets. Despite his defeat in the semi-final stage of this tournament, he moved up to world number 104 in the official ATP singles rankings.
    9. In May 2026, at the Lyon Open (another ATP Tour 250 event), Arthur received walkovers in the 2nd round and quarter-final stage of the tournament- having won in straight sets in the 2nd round. In his 3rd ATP Tour-level semi-final of the season, he overcame 8th seed in a tense 3-setter.
    10. He then defeated 4th seed in straight sets in the final to win his career’s maiden title on the ATP Tour. He also became the then-youngest champion in the tournament’s history. Due to this title triumph, he also broke into the ‘Top 100’ of the official ATP singles rankings.
    11. In July 2026, at the Hamburg European Open (an ATP Tour 500 (the 4th-highest tier of tournaments on the ATP Tour) event), Arthur recorded straight sets victories in the first 2 rounds. In the next round (quarter-final stage), he shocked top seed and then world number 4  in straight sets. This was the first win of his career over a player ranked in the ‘Top 10’ of the official ATP singles rankings.
    12. The win also meant that he had reached the semi-final stage of an ATP Tour 500 event for the first time in his career. He lost to 4th seed and eventual champion in straight sets in the semi-final. Due to his performance in this tournament, he broke into the ‘Top 50’ of the official ATP singles rankings.
    13. In October 2026, at the European Open (an ATP Tour 250 event), he was seeded 4th and earned a bye in the first round. He then recorded straight sets victories in the 2nd round and the quarter-final stage. In the semi-final, Arthur upset top seed and then world number 7 in straight sets.
    14. This was the second win of his career over a player ranked in the ‘Top 10’ of the official ATP singles rankings. The win also meant that he had reached the final of an ATP Tour-level tournament for the second time in his career. He also became the then-youngest finalist in the tournament’s history. In the final, he lost to 3rd seed in straight sets.
    15. In December 2026, Arthur finished as the runner-up at the year’s Next Generation ATP Finals (a year-end men’s youth exhibition tennis tournament (played annually since 2017, except 2026) – contested by the 8 highest-ranked 21-and-under singles players on the season’s ATP Tour).
