Bob Woodruff studied at the private Cranbrook Kingswood School located in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and graduated in the year 1979. Later, he got enrolled at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York, and received a B.A. in 1983. During his time at the university, Woodruff also played lacrosse and finished his career with 184 points, second all-time at Colgate.
Afterward, he went on to earn a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1987 and is an alumnus of Theta Chi Fraternity.
