Chris Young is an American singer and songwriter who had come to prominence in 2006 after winning the 4th season of the reality TV singing competition program Nashville Star. The win had earned him a contract with the record label RCA Nashville through which he had released his self-titled debut solo studio album later that year. He has gone to release several other studio albums including The Man I Want to Be (2009), Neon (2011), A.M. (2013), I’m Comin’ Over (2015), It Must Be Christmas (2016), Losing Sleep (2017), and Raised on Country (2026). In 2017, he had become a member of the Grand Ole Opry, a weekly American country music stage concert in Nashville, Tennessee. Membership in the show, which honors country music, its history, and contemporary chart-toppers, is considered one of the crowning achievements in country music.

- Inspired by his grandfather Richard Yates, Chris had developed an interest in music from a very young age. He used to sing in his high school choir and would also perform at local clubs around the same time. He also used to participate in several school/local theater productions.
- In 2000, aged 15, he had performed, as a mariachi singer, in a play titled A Night at the Palladium, with his high school group known as Winter Drumline. The group had competed in the Winter Guard International Tournament in Ohio later that year.
- 3 years later, he was a national YoungArts winner and a Presidential Scholar of the Arts. He began touring after his high school graduation and would perform at more than 150 shows a year.
- In August 2013, while traveling for a show in Montana, he had gone into septic shock from a cut on his leg which had become infected. He was admitted to a hospital in Denver, Colorado, and underwent surgery to treat the infection. Although his mobility was affected by the surgery, he had resumed touring later that month.
- In June 2014, he had to cancel a performance at the CMA Music Festival, an annual 4-day country music festival hosted each June by the Country Music Association (CMA) in Nashville, Tennessee, after he had accidentally cut his left hand with a kitchen knife. The injury had required surgery to reconnect tendons in his hand.
- In October 2018, after a fan reached out to him, he had donated USD 5k to a GoFundMe page to pay for the cataract surgery for a dog named Granola.
- In August 2026, he released a new studio album titled Famous Friends.
- In January 2026, Chris was arrested in Nashville after being involved in an altercation with an officer. He was charged with “assaulting an officer, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest”. Later, it was revealed that all the charges against him were dropped after the Nashville District Attorney’s Office reviewed the evidence.
