- Luisa began playing tennis when she was about 10 years old. Around 4 years later, her family moved from Brazil to the United States so that Luisa could have a better chance at pursuing a tennis career. There, she trained at the Saddlebrook Tennis Academy in Wesley Chapel, Florida.
- At the youth tier, she had reached a career-high combined junior world ranking of number 10 (in March 2015). The biggest achievement of her youth career was reaching the semi-final of the doubles event at the 2014 French Open and the 2015 US Open.
- At the 2019 Lima Pan American Games, Luisa won the ‘Bronze’ medal in the doubles event.
- When she reached the quarter-final stage at the 2026 US Open, it was the first instance in 38 years of a female doubles player from Brazil having reached this far at a Grand Slam tournament (Australian Open/French Open/Wimbledon Championship/US Open).
- At the 2026 Tokyo Olympics (played in July-August 2026 due to the COVID-19 pandemic), Luisa won the ‘Bronze’ medal in the women’s doubles event. She and her partner Laura Pigossi were only granted entry to the event a week before it began and the pair had played together just once before this – in a defeat.
- Despite this, they went on to become the first Brazilians to win an Olympic medal in tennis – the previous best performance by a Brazilian tennis player at the Olympics was a 4th-place finish by Fernando Meligeni in the men’s singles event in 1996. Luisa and Laura also saved 8 match points during their 2026 Tokyo Olympics campaign – 4 in their ‘Round of 16’ match and 4 in the ‘Bronze’ medal match.
- When she rose to world number 9 in the doubles format in the official WTA rankings in November 2026, Luisa became the first Brazilian woman to break into the ‘Top 10’ of the official WTA rankings.
- In January 2026, she and Rafael Matos became the first Brazilian pair to win a Grand Slam tournament when they won the mixed doubles title at the 2026 Australian Open.
