    Mohammad Nabi Facts

    1. Born in the Logar Province in Afghanistan, Mohammad Nabi’s family had moved to Peshawar in Pakistan to flee from the Soviet–Afghan War. Although the conflict had ended in 1989, the family had returned to Afghanistan only in 2000.
    2. He is the first bowler from Afghanistan to take 100 ODI wickets and the first Afghan cricketer to play in 100 ODI matches.
    3. After playing in Afghanistan’s first 3 test matches, he had retired from the format in September 2019 to prolong his limited-overs (ODIs and T20Is) international career.
    4. Owing to a lack of cricketing infrastructure in Afghanistan and the country’s internal strife, he has played most of his domestic cricket outside of his home country representing teams such as Pakistan Customs (2007-08–2009-10) in Pakistan; Mohammedan Sporting Club (2013-14–2014-15) in Bangladesh; and Leicestershire County Cricket Club (2018) and Kent County Cricket Club (2019) in England, across all 3 formats.
    5. He was Afghanistan’s leading wicket-taker at the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup.
    6. A valuable spin-bowling all-rounder, he has been featured in franchise-based T20 leagues around the world, turning out for Sylhet Royals (2013), Rangpur Riders (2015), Chittagong Vikings (2016), and Comilla Victorians (2017) in the BPL (Bangladesh Premier League); Quetta Gladiators (2016) and Karachi Kings (2026) in the PSL (Pakistan Super League); Sunrisers Hyderabad (2017–Present) in the IPL (Indian Premier League); St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (2017) and St Lucia Zouks (2026) in the CPL (Caribbean Premier League); Mis Ainak Knights (2017) and Balkh Legends (2018) in the APL (Afghanistan Premier League); and Melbourne Renegades (2017-18–Present) in the BBL (Big Bash League).
