- Namitha had first come into the spotlight when she had won the ‘Miss Surat’ beauty pageant in 1998. She was just 17 years old at that time. In 2001, she had ended up as the 3rd runner-up in the ‘Miss India’ beauty pageant which was won by fellow future actress .
- After the competition, she had moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in acting, and while there, she had acted in several TV commercials. However, when she had failed to gain a breakthrough into the Hindi film industry, she had enrolled herself in an English Literature course.
- A few months after this, she had planned to return to her hometown of Surat but had canceled her plans at the last minute after accepting an invitation to audition for a Telugu film. She had been selected for the coming-of-age romantic film, Sontham (2002), her feature film debut. In her next film, Gemeni (2002), she had been credited as ‘Bhairavi’ but had later reverted to her original name.
- At the peak of her success and fame, in 2008, a fan had built her a temple near Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. In October 2010, a fan had attempted to kidnap her at Trichy in Tamil Nadu.
- In 2012, Tokyo TV, a Japanese media station, had named her the ‘Most Beautiful Person in India’.
- In 2017, she had participated in the first season of the reality TV show Bigg Boss Tamil, the Tamil version of Big Brother, a reality competition TV franchise that was first broadcasted in the Netherlands in 1999. She had been evicted from the show on the 28th day.
- In her youth, she used to teach swimming to young children. She is also proficient in Karate. Her hobbies/interests include dancing, watching movies, and playing badminton. She also loves reading novels as well as comic books.
